lala, I'm so sorry you've had such a hard year. Seriously. I sounds like it was really bad.

At the current state of technology, there isn't anything to remove specific memories. There are supportive therapies to help people who've been through traumatic experiences, though.

Have you seen a psychotherapist lately?

I'm a big believer in interviewing therapists in order to find the right one for me, at least the right one for right now in my life. Maybe those just weren't the right three for you?

As for ways to eliminate memories, there's no pill I know of. There are experiments under way right now, though, that I've read about to reduce PTSD symptoms, using medication and some sort of adjuctive therapy. I can't remember the details, and don't have time to look for it today. I think I found it in Psychiatric Times, though, so you could check there.

What apparently is getting pretty good results is EMDR. I don't know how well it works, or what sorts of things it works best on, but it might be worth looking in to for you.

Hope that helps. Good luck.

(And I'm sorry you've had such a bad time.)

Gosh, lala. (Is it okay to call you that for short? Or L?)

It sounds like you're really, really hurting. I don't have anything quite that bad in my recent past, but there are certainly things I'd rather just not ever remember, so I sympathize.

> i won't mind if it deletes ALL my memory if that's the only way to do it

I guess the big question is “…the only way to do *what*?” Maybe there are a few more options at that point than just immediately wiping your memory. It must be really rough.

If it's not too personal, can I ask what the 3 therapists said about your situation? Did they have any ideas at all?

Thanks for replying. –PN

That's not good enough for me. Have you tried to psychology board? You may find more people informed about different types of theraphy. Good luck to you. Love Phillipa

Lala,

Nardil, a MAOI antidepressant, sometimes gives a side effect that could relieve your pain. It is related to antememory, the long long term memory, the one that keeps that year that you want to forget. On Nardil, I was able to remember some facts about the life, but that was difficult to Visualize them and impossible to remember the FEELINGS related to them..

So with that side effect you could remember the fact that you had your hearth breaked, but you couldn't feel anything about it. about anything that you live in the past, anyway.

To my knowledge, this is your only chance.
but I highly recommend to pursue more psychologic help.. therapies, with time could help you more than a med to forget.

Marty
