You are going to be a great responder to the med, I can tell. A positive attitude will take you far and in a short time you will find that the Parnate will take over and your positive attitude will be permanent.

Keep us informed. You're helping a lot of people the more you post!

I am now at 30 mg. The only side effect I am experience, is clumsiness. This happened when I was the med before. I would go hiking and fall a lot. But I just have to be careful.

I haven't had anymore hypertensive experiences and I don't plan on having anymore.

I think the positive thing about Parnate is that it energises you. So your depression may be addressed yet, but you have more energy which can make you feel more positive and hopeful.

Hi
Because of the dizziness yesterday, I dropped my dosage back down to 20 mg, just to be on the safe side.

I don't want to rush things.

I remember last year when I did hiking in Vermont and New York state, I wouldn't take my Parnate that day because it did make me a little dizzy and very clumsy.

I still feel the same energy though, which is good. Today I am going bike riding!

Hi Maxie

It's great that the Parnate is starting to work. The bike ride is a great idea :)

I'm glad you're being cautious too. I want you to be safe :)

> My doc is going to give me Thorazine for hypertensive crisis too Maxime. I have heard conflicting information on nifedipine v. chlorpromazine.

Talked to the pharmacist today and answered my own question. Nifedipine works well to lower blood pressure, but Thorazine works better to calm you down. It's all kind of a question of what the doc is more familiar with, usually, and they both work. Since I will likely be prone to a lot of anxiety if I have a hypertensive crisis, I'm fine with my pdoc prescribing Thorazine.

Today I didn't take my Parnate. I am sick and I wanted to be able to take cold meds.

I feel awful.

Maxime,

Sweetie, you know you really shouldn't keep starting it and stopping it like that. Did you call your pdoc? I really think you should. You could use a saline nasal spray for your cold. You don't have to take a decongestant.

Sorry you feel so miserable!

Hugs,

Hi Maxie

You must not take any decongestants or cough supressants for a least 2 weeks after your last dose of Parnate. Please be careful.

30 mg of Parnate. But then I took some ephedra. I know, I am playing with fire, but you have to understand the strong hold that anorexia has on me.

I didn't feel hypertensive or anything ... just really speedy. I am going to try and stay away from it. But it's hard. You have no idea.

I have a job interview tomorrow. I wonder how it will go?

Maxie I don't care how broke you are you are definitely not ready to go back to work . Depression and the eating disorder . The ehpedra call the ER Please. Your life is more important and stress over a job interview is probably fueling it. Love Jan

Maxime,

I don't like the way you sound. I'm really worried about you. You are not being the careful, deliberate person I know you can be. You said you have a horrible cold. This message mentions no cold at all just the fear of gaining weight as the reason you took the ephedra?

PLEASE call your doctor and tell him what is going on. I really DO care!

I am okay. I just can't sleep. It's 3:30 in the morning. I feel no effect from the ephedra. Really, no need to worry. I took the ephedra because I am a big fat pig.

Phillipa - I have worked most of my life with depression and an ED. I have no choice. I push myself and I get things done. I can't not work. That's just not a possibility.

No need to call the ER. I am fine.

Maxie I'm sorry I offended you and your ability to make decisions about going to work but in a way we're in the same place as we're living without jobs either but my Doc won't let me go back to work. It's hard isn't it? Just be careful okay? Love Phillipa

Maxie yeah I think we're alike in a lot of ways. I'm not supposed to do a lot of bending. But I spent yesterday raking a yard, sweeping the driveway and road, and trimming bushing and getting rid of all the gum balls from the trees. This was because we have a very small house to rent to try and get money for bills and I can't stand not working either so I did it anyway. I need and want to be useful and feel I have contributed my share. I can't sit and do nothing. It's not me. Love Phillipa

Maxime,

You said you are a big fat pig. That simply isn't true. You FEEL like a big fat pig. And we both know FEELINGS aren't always real. Try applying some of your CBT concepts. (Did I get those initials right?) Maybe it will help. :-)

And ephedra will cause you to have a difficult time sleeping and make you jittery even if you got away without having a hypertensive reaction--this time.

PLEASE call your doctor you are taking risks you should not take.

Hugs,

MidnightBlue

Thank you. I was very offended. We are not in the same place because you have a husband who can help you with money. I have no one.

I am a big fat pig!

I bought a self-esteem workbook that has CBT in it.

I am NOT calling my doctor. What is he going to do?

I appreciate that you care, but you don't know what it's like to live in my shoes.

Maxime,

You are right. I am not in your shoes. And I don't understand what you are going through.

I'm so sorry you are hurting so much. I do know what it is like to hurt, I just hurt in different ways.

I only mentioned CBT because you had said favorable things about it and recommended it to others. I thought it had helped you in the past.

Please take care of yourself. I really do care what happens to you.

Hugs,

I'm still sitting at 30 mg. I don't want to increase it until some of the side effects go away. Again, I don't know if my depression is going away. Parnate, because it's activating, gives a false sense of well being before the actual antidepressant effect kicks in.

I took 40 mg today. The side effects are no worse than at 30 mg.

I am very depressed today. But I think it has more to do with a situation than brain chemistry.
