Will 1 mg of risperdal block a stimulant completely? or will it just lessen it a little bit.

I wouldn't mix APs with stimulants...it feels strange (I speak from experience). Risperdal will lessen the effects of dex, but given all variables (drug-drug interaction, half-life, etc.) the overall result is hard to predict. I seem to recall a paper suggesting that AP+stim combos (in this case, typical antipsychotics) raised the risk of tardive dyskinesia. Some docs do these combos; they seem kind of common now that everyone is ADD and everyone is also on an atypical. The only situation where this kind of combo is (semi) studied is in stable, chronically medicated schizophrenics; in some of these people, adding low-doses of stimulants (usually Ritalin, for some reason) seems to help with negative symptoms, although there is a risk of making the positive symptoms (such as florid psychosis) re-appear.

I've been on Adderall and Seroquel for years. The Seroquel certainly does attenuate the stimulant effects of Adderall - however, I only take Seroquel at bedtime for insomnia. I HATE it - but it puts me to sleep - sometimes for days. However, when I take the Adderall during the day it works just fine.
