What the heck is going on here???!

Posted by becksA on January 16, 2006, at 12:30:32

DX: Cyclothemic, ADHD, Social Anxiety Disorder

I've been doing some thinking about myself....I'm very unmotivated to do many things, except maybe the things I truly love. Internet research, musical, medical, blogging on here, etc etc etc....
However when it comes to a simple thing like making a dentist appointment that is long overdue, or taking a gift over to my cousin's house 1 MILE(!) away, I feel like i'm in cement.

I wouldnt say I'm the happiest person in the world, but that's mainly because I have so many things going on, college, (which is a struggle because of severe ADD), and the depression is always mild at it's worst.

Currently on:
-1mg klonopin 3x daily
-Adderal as needed for homework (usually 10 - 20mg)
-1250mg depakote daily, seems to be mildly helping.

Any ideas for possible reasons why I can't seem to bring myself out to do things as easy as calling for an appointment, bring that gift to my little cousin, it has taken me 3 weeks to write a check for 10 dollars back to a complete stranger that helped me out at a restaurant when I realized I had forgotten my wallet! Any simple 1 minute process like these for me seem like a mountain of a task. Is it typical ADD behavior I'm starting to think? ACK!

thanks

You sound exactly like me. I don't have Adderall though.

Depression is a disease of motivation....At it's worst I often had to force myself to MOVE!!
Luckily I had an infant who needed my help and that certainly forced the issue. If I were you I would make a list of those things you have to do and as Nike says...
Just Do It!!!!
