Just make sure you take them for a longer period than l0 days as they did not knock it out for me. It took years of both IV and oral antibiotics to put it in remission. Fondly, Phillipa

he simply said that he does not prescribe IV antibiotics. :(

the current regimen is a month long, then i see my doctor at the end, and i gather i continue (i have 2 repeats)...

the meds are:
200mg doxycycline twice a day for 4 days then,
500mg metronidazole (generic Flagyl, APO brand) twice a day for 3 days,
then repeat.

i am hoping that this will be effective.
i also prolly should get another test, but when the doctor proposed it, i was worried of the financial aspect, but my dad has said since that he'd cover it. i hope if i get back to the office when the open again after christmas, i wont be too far into the antibiotic challenge to make it worthwhile.

oh god, i am keeping my fingers crossed that i am set down the right road finally this time.

You do know that you will always test positive for having had lyme's. And the Western blot is now accurate for testing if it is active. I took biaxinxl for two years for three months at a time. Fondly, Phillipa ps was told rheumatologists were the ones that are the best informed to treat. Babblemail me and maybe I can help you. Unfortunatedly for whatever reason I can't Babblemail from my Son's computer But I'm away til sometime Tuesday. Please include your E-mail address. That way we can discuss it further and I can send you some of the infor I have at home in my files on lymes. Fondly, Phillipa
