I have just bougth Paxil CR . Do you believe
that this extended release version is better
than the old one?.Another question, am I wrong or Paxil is the
only SSRIS oficialy accepted to treat
Social anxiety disoder.

Tepi a doctor once told me the CR version was not as good. Don't really know why. Is it over the counter in Mexico? Fondly, Phillipa

Why?That depends on which country you live in. In the UK, Paxil and Lexapro are approved for SAD. Other SSRIs can be effective though - but Paxil has been more thoroughly studied.

Hi philipa , Yes it is over the counter in Mexico. As well as other meds like Seroquel, Risperdal and others AP.

Hi Tepi
Paxil was the first psych med I ever took (I was being treated for anxiety). I started Paxil when I was about 14 and continued taking it for several years. I initially took 10mg for a couple of weeks then increased to 20mg. I stayed on 20mg for a few weeks but it didn't help. I increased to 30mg and found it somewhat beneficial. A few weeks later I increased to 40mg. I stayed on 40mg for most of the time I was on Paxil.
