Klonopin and ENHANCED libido ??????

Posted by spriggy on November 22, 2005, at 13:14:12

This is really, really weird. I've never heard anyone say this is a side effect of Klonopin but I've done nothing else differently in the 7 plus years of marriage and suddenly, my libido (the past 2-3 weeks) has sky rocketed.

It's not really a problem ( makes for a very happy husband, LOL) but I am just wondering if it's from the Klonopin???

Anyone else ever notice an increase in their sex drive on this stuff?

Aren't you a lucky duck? Maybe it will prove to be an effective AD as well.

Hubby is a lucky duck indeed. Pretty cool.

Hey, so often doctors look at psychiatric symptoms as mainly a serotonin thing, and sometimes a norepinephrine or dopamine thing. But you know, psychiatric symptoms can be caused by any number of chemicals or electrical impulses being out of balance. One of them is GABA. If the GABA system is at the heart of your symptoms, then that could explain why klonopin has worked so well for you.

Though it probably isn't likely, since klonopin used to be an anti-manic mood stabilizer back in the old days, there is always an outside chance of any psychiatric med sparking some form of mania, with one of the possible symptoms being increased sexual drive.

Regardless of what's going on, I say go for it. Make him a lucky duck till he can't see straight.
