Hi folks,
After taking Ritalin for over a year,20-80mgs the effects have changed. it used to calm and make me optimastic, but now not so.
What gives?

Paul,
You may have developed a tolerance to Ritilin. THis is common. Very common for depression.
Even with Dexamphetamine it can happen, i take only 20mg, im prescibed 30mg but i dont want to develop a tolerance. 20mg causes some alertness, and attention but not much on mood. 40mg does increase mood, some people take 60mg of dexedrine, those kind takes a long time to work with a doctor.
Have you heard of L-Tyrosine? its an amino acid that you can buy at the supplement store. It is the precursor to dopamine and norephinerine, so it would increase the amount in your nerve synapse.
How has your dexedrine option been with your doctor?
I think Dexedrine would be better for you. Methylpheidate on depression is really not that effective. Dexedrine used to be posted for depression in the 60's and 70's.
Have you taken a small dose of Valium with Ritilin? like 2mg or 5mg?

I saw A Doc last week ( not my regular Doc)-i took along some old bottles of Meds, so he would know what to give me.
My Reg PcDoc gives me 20mgs Rit 3x daily + 10mgs night,=70mgd Ritalin +5mgs Valium 3x daily=90 tabs
I grabbed some old empty bottles (other Doc) and i showed them to Doc i saw. he dutifuly fulled it for Ritalin 20mgs 4x daily=80mgs + 105 Valiums-15 more than usual.
This has happened before, when my maim PcDoc has been away, and i have come in for my meds, with another Doc

I think i have a depression, Effexor has been mentioned.
But i have been turned onto Stimulants. (for good or bad) and would lke to trial (My PsyDocs) option of Dextroamphetamine-USA, (Dexedrine).

Well, talk to your doctor that the Ritilin does seem to work. Is there any more options? Do i have to go the US? Doctors here prescribe Adderall alot, to adult adhd.
Adderall is more stimulating than dexedrine, i took it for 8 years. Adderall is more likely to "zing" you out of bed. Dexedrine just wakes you up, mentally. Mainly to the "I" isomer in Adderall which is mixed with other amphetamine salts, make it more "psyhically" stimulating.
But still try to go for the Dexedrine. Slow... I dont know how doctors in the UK are... so thats the only universal advice to give you.
But stay slow, dont "push it" becuase that will sometimes obligate the doctor to not go along.
You take care. Ask your doctor about Ativan.... for insomnia.

Adderall D+l Amphetamine isn't available here.
Dexamphatamine (Dexedrine) is, in 5mg IR tabs, and i would love the f*ck to try it, after Methylphenidate 10mgs-100mgs for over 1.5 years. Adderall seems to be a major trendy med in your USA at the moment. Desoxyn still seems to be the best thought.

I take
Zinc Picolinate 2x daily
Magnesium Aspartate
10 fish oil caps
Multi vatimin+ of course the Methylphenidate, apparently Mag Asp, helps with stim tolerance

10 fish oils! i thought i took too much when i took 4 when i was recovering from a amphetamine crash.
Magni? i thought that calms you down.
Well you do take alot of supplements paul. Thats good. Im supprised you havent taken L-tryrosine. I used to take it all the time for tolerance, with adderall.
And you take diazepam at night. I take Temazepam 30mg with 2mg of clonazpam. 30mg Temazepam with 4mg of Clonazepam will cure any insomnia, you will be knocked out, but the only thing your body wakes back up but at least you get some danm sleep.
I have never taken Valium, i heard its pleasant, and then i heard its depressing. Klonopin is always depressing. Temazepam at high doses makes you say things you would never say or do.
Anyways, cheers with you 10 fish oils.
I take 2 a day.
