6:00 PM Mania Prime time

Posted by rjlockhart98 on October 10, 2005, at 18:12:36

I dont know why, i have posted around 6:00-6:30 i experience a manic, amphetamine-adrenaline like stimulation. I dont know why, it dies down around 9:00

Its like my body goes into "prime time", im the most alert than i have ever been.

I research, think, post, alot of stuff.

I almost enjoy it.

Is this anything releated to a disorder, a past event?

Matt

I had hypomania about 6 AM - 8 or 9 AM, off and on. I'm doing better since I've been on 125 mg Lamictal for about 5 weeks.

Fires, didn't know you could be hypomanic for just a few hours a day. Thought it had to be all day with little sleep and occurr over at least a week. Fondly, Phillipa

The pdoc I consulted gave me an article by Hagop S. Akisal, MD, who reports on the "softer" expressions of BP which aren't in DSM-IV.

Here's a description of my Dx -- not from above mentioned article (my ***):

"BIPOLAR DISORDER NOT OTHERWISE SPECIFIED

Bipolar Disorder Not Otherwise Specified is a residual category of illness encompassing mood disorders determined by the clinician to exist in the bipolar realm, but ***not meeting criteria for another bipolar disorder***. Examples of Bipolar Disorder Not Otherwise Specified are ***periods of expanded mood that did not meet the 4-day–duration criterion for hypomania***, recurrent Hypomanic Episodes without episodes of depression, or periods of expanded mood that fulfill these criteria but cannot be independently verified or are not noticeable by others."

I'm very "atypical" in tht I didn't have an episode of hypomania until age 50, and it was triggered by Effexor. I've read that BPs who don't have any hypomania, or mania, until age 50+ are extremely rare.

I also have 2 neuro. conditions which complicate the picture.

Fires, another older but goodie like me. I'd ask you your age now but that would be rude. You can always Babblemail me and we can chat. But my own doctor was suspecting the same with me. Except I don't have any hypomania only when I took wellbutrin for a week. I ended up in the hospital. But I sure could use a little of it now. Fondly, Phillipa
