I stayed thin the whole time I was on it. I went off of it because it wasn't really working for me. I ended up switching to a medication that made me gain weight, so I put 20+ pounds on with that (I didn't choose the medication for the weight-gain, that's just what this one did). So I don't really know if my weight would have just gone back to normal if I had just quit the Effexor and not switched to a different med.

I've lost about 30lbs. on Effexor which is a good thing for me. I have reached a plateau now where I'm still a little overweight, but am much healthier than i was before. My appetite is good now after about the first 6 months or so of feeling a little nauseous on it. I hope I don't gain it all back if and when I go off the drug.

Good luck!

Colleen

Hi,

I have lost weight on Effexor too. I really have to work hard and consciously think about keeping it on. I've been on 150mg for about 1.5 years. My doctors don't believe that my weight loss is due to the medication, but I've never had this much problem with weight loss. I do have an appetite. I eat about as much as anyone, I think, but it doesn't seem to help. I'm now about 5 lbs underweight.

The thing that's more disturbing to me than the weight loss, though, is that it seems like my physical performance has suffered. Mainly, I get nauseous very suddenly and very easily with strenuous physical exertion. I'll puke with little warning. I never had that problem before.

I hope too that I don't balloon when I come off of it.
