I amcurrently taking 25 mg Lamictal and will soon increase it to 50 mg. I will be going for a pre-employment drug screen soon. Does Lamictal test positive in these drug screens ?

Unless they've changed they only check for illegal drugs and if you have a legitate prescription it's okay. Just bring the bottle with you. Fondly, Phillipa

Thanks for your suggestion. But I don't want to disclose that I am taking Lamictal. I know that Xanax tests positive on pre-emplyment drug tests. My question is does Lamictal test positive too ? Any help will be appreciated.

Are you sure about xanax I used to take it when I was nursing. I was just always told to bring my RX bottles with me. Lamictal can be used for a lot of things and I don't believe they're allowed to disclose results unless it's positive for illegal drugs. Fondly, Phillipa

Hi Phillipa, thanks again, but I would really prefer not to disclose the medication at this moment. So the question is wheter this medicine (Lamictal) is detectable or shows false positives in standard pre-employment drug screens ?
Any help will be appreciated.

If you lie and something shows up in your labwork, you will look even worse than simply disclosing it. You don't have to tell them why you are taking it. You could say it's off label for neuropathic pain or headaches, versus psych reasons.

I've run drug tests as a med tech and have always seen only DAU's (drugs of abuse) You know the usuals. There are some common interfering substances, ie, poppy seeds, lots of Vit C. But have never heard of any psych meds being the culprit for a false positive. Oddly though (and unusually), where I work now we test for AD overdose, but the test is only good for trycyclics. Personally, I would feel comfortable taking a urine drug screen with no disclosure and expect it to come back negative. (Except for the occ. Zanax I take) I am also on Lamictal and Seroquel. Hope this helps.
