Lamictal

Posted by fires on July 8, 2005, at 18:34:28

Yesterday I had a consultation with a Univ. based/private practice pdoc.

It seems that the meds of choice(for mood stabilization) for BP II or III are:

1)Lamictal
2)Lamictal
3)Lamictal

Can anyone else say that they have found Lamictal the go to med for above conditions?

Thanks

Hi fires,
I take Lamictal as an adjunct to Nardil to try to target residual depression. But when my pdoc recommended it, she also said it was working well with her BPII patients.

If you decide to go back on it, please post how you do on it. I'm thinking it's helping me, but it's sometimes hard to tell if it's that, the Nardil, or therapy, or all of the above.

I'm going back on Lamictal. Starting at 12.5 mg for 2 weeks, then 25 mg for 2 weeks, then 50 mg for 2 weeks... Talk about low and slow. :-)

Wow, that is low and slow. My pdoc said to go 25 mg for one week, 50 for one week, and 75 for one week. I slowed it down on my own just to be cautious. :)

Good luck,

The sample pack I got has 2 weeks at 25 mg than 2 weeks at 50 mg, then an increase to 100mg. So you were going to go faster than the package states. I suppose it's all a matter of trying and seeing what happens.

Yep, that's what made me slow it down. I trust my pdoc, but I trust my body's response to meds (sensitive to many) better.
