I need a mood elevator, Any sggestions?

Posted by luca1975 on May 24, 2005, at 18:51:01

Currrently taking 300mg wellbutrin SR. Does a good job of getting out of bed, but I hoped it would pick up my mood a bit. I'm looking for something new, or to augment.

Hi, how long have you been on Wellbutrin? We you say "pick up your mood" do you mean you are still depressed or that you are lacking energy?

I take 72 mg Concerta (form of slow release ritalin) in the morning for ADHD along with 100 mg Toprol (beta blocker which is for both agitation and high blood pressure). These 2 drugs make me more calm and focused, but I felt like I also needed a little lift in my mood. So I started back on Lexapro just before bedtime, but only 5 mg. That seems to give me the slight mood elevation all day that I needed.

I like taking the Lexapro at night so that it will not make me tired during the day. I take it with 1 or 2 mg Lunesta.

Oh okay, so really the Wellbutrin isn't working. You could add Zoloft to it and see if that helps. Or try Effexor or Cymbalta and remove the Wellbutrin altogether.

I'm sorry it's not working for you. I hope you find something that does and that you feel better soon.

It seems this sad and depressed for no reason is popping up more and more. Me too. Is it the weather? It's bad all over the States. Fondly, Phillipa

Thanks for the advice. I try to stay away from meds that cause sexual side effects. Maybe I'll give Remeron a try.
