I could not help but notice that some in that study on PTSD patients seemed to be on 50 mgs a Valium a day. How much of this stuff can you take? I mean there are people on 6 mgs of Xanax, same of Klonopin, that is 120 mgs of Valium by many equivalancy charts! Can you take that?? I have server anxiety but my doc just want to give me a bit of Libriun, replace with paxil and make me nuthouse crazy. Of course there are other docs.... Thanks for letting me pic your brain. I need to get to work not sit around the house for months writhing and trying to breathe.

Hi,

>How much of this stuff (Valium) can you take?

Well, it's difficult to say really. The more you take, the higher the risk of side effects. In the UK, the 'official' maximum dose is 30mg for anxiety and 60mg for muscle spasticity. I think you're on 40mg at the moment, I honestly wouldn't recommend increasing the dose. Perhaps you could try a different treatment for your anxiety, in addition to the benzo.

'Recreational' benzo users have been known to take over 1000mg Valium per day- it's difficult to imagine how you'd be able to remember anything at that dose!

Sometimes, people need a lot........

'A 34-yr-old male in delirium tremens required a total of 2640 mg iv diazepam for adequate sedation.'

I read that Valium makes you feel sick, you could always try taking a different benzo instead. Librium has the advantage of being long acting- which reduces the risk of withdrawal symptoms occuring between doses. Another option is clonazepam.

Regards,
Ed.
