another Wellbutrin concern...

Posted by jessers11581 on March 31, 2005, at 21:20:40

Okay. I started taking WB yesterday at 75 mg. once in the morning (I'm supposed to increase this to 75 mg. twice daily in a week). All day today I felt really spacy and dim-witted. This is my second day on the medication. Is this typical--does anyone else have this side-effect? I thought Wellbutrin was supposed to increase alertness. So far, I have not experienced any intensified anxiety, nervousness, etc. But I feel like I can't communicate--like I can't come up with the right words to say, and I'm having trouble responding to remarks that people make toward me (espeically humorous or witty ones that require an equally humorous and witty response). I feel very dulled and boring, if that makes any sense. Does this sound familiar to anyone. Please respond if so. Maybe I'm just having an off day...

Since this is only the second day, the only thing that's pretty certain is that something's gonna change...

The good news is that Wellbutrin seems to have a reputation for acting quickly, and what I've experienced on it hasn't really changed since the first week I was on it! So, give it maybe three weeks and see how you're doing.

I know that, as well as treating my depression, it seems to have just plain lifted my mood -- if that makes sense? I do feel sunny and bubbly most of the time, and am certainly as clear-headed as I can be during this period. (Refeeding issues...)

Anyway, good luck, and do give it a chance to show you if it's going to help you or not. As I said above, Wellbutrin is my friend. Maybe it will be your friend, too.

I'm on day three of 100mg SR. So far it's relaxing me to the point where I feel the need to lay down. Also helping some with chronic pain. No increase in anxiety or bouncing off the ceiling that some people seem to get. Frankly, I'm hoping for a lot more activation. Have to wait and see if this continues. If so, may need to add a stimulant.
