switching paxil cr for luvox

Posted by krybrahaha78 on February 14, 2005, at 17:16:50

I use to take luvox and it worked great for my ocd and anxiety. My company switched medical and my insurance considers it NON formulary. My doc put me on Paxil cr, but lately been giving me lots of anxiety, so im thinking about going back to Luvox. I still have a bottle left. I take 37.5 paxil so how would i do the switchover. How many mgs of luvox equals 37.5 mg paxil? any ideas?

I used to take it too, and had good results with it. Now noone will Rx it cause it's only available in generic. The product name is no longer available. All I know, is at the time, my old pdoc had me on l0mg of paxil and he switched me to 50mg of Luvox. I don't know if this is an equivalent or not. As for the old pills, if they are over a year old they are expired and probably are not as strong as they once were. It's also not a good idea to start on a Product name and then switch to a generic because of the differing of strengths between a brand name and a generic. Fondly, Phillipa

Just curious, do you take Luvox morning or night?

Did you have any luck with 50mg at night before you added the AM dose?

I guess it did. At the time I was not depressed. I got up to 250mg of luvox and felt good. Then the bad old pdoc wanted me to take part in a celexa trial for the drug co. I said no, so he said I was catatonic which I wasn't. He took me off of it and put me on celexa. That was the beginning of the end. I became depressed. I switched pdocs and when she attempted to put me back on luvox I couldn't tolerate it. Gradually she got me up to 200mg of it and after about 2 wks it pooped out on me and my anxiety increased. This was when I was going through menopause. Now my next mission with the new pdoc will be to see if I can take luvox again. I have to get my anxiety under control first. Fondly, Phillipa
