Can AP's cause hallucinations or vision problems?

Posted by pretty_paints on February 10, 2005, at 5:00:17

Does anyone know?

I mean, can they actually CAUSE a person who has not hallucinated, to hallucinate?

Cheers

Well, if you can call waking up in the middle of the night thinking you couldn't open your eyes an hallucination, then I guess they could. Are you experiencing hallucinations Katie? Fondly, Phillipa

When I started taking risperdal, I felt like on an acid trip. I would stiff up like a board on the couch or floor, and watch what ever my mom turned on the tv. The first pill she put on cartoon network. Holucinations were bad, I thought the news ancore was talking to me, the cartoons were excesivly animated. I had taking acid in the past, 3 years ago and never had a flash back, but when I was taking risperdal as the pills went up and down it was exactly like taking acid, scary. I got worse and worse on risperdal, for about 2 weeks then they put me on zyprexa and I was instantly better, moving, working, making freinds having fun. Like I was living again. My parents had a real hard time with me on risperdal, I had paranoia, that was worse than no medicine, driving to the doctor at the end of 2 -3 weeks I did not want to get off the floor. They practicaly had to drag me out of the house, I was a mess covered in dirt, hadn't taken a bath in probably 2 weeks. I tried once and feel down after stiffing up like a board. The drive I thought it was like a big event where every one was watching me on a big parade or some thing, they all knew where I was going and looking at me. It was the worst experience in my life. Its the only med that ever made me holucinat.

Hi Sebastian,

You've mentioned quite a lot of delusions and distortions (like the cartoon). But did you actually visually hallucinate? And if so, was this DUE TO the risperidone, do you think? I had a rough time on risperidone, though it was mainly tremor and akathisia and restlessness which was hell.

Thanks for your post! It was really interesting!

I realy holucinated with the cartoons. Mainly funny colors and the cartoons were doing things you would not expect a cartoon to do.
