I did do a switch, briefly - about 4 weeks, and found the Xanax XR did not cover my symptoms as well as Klonopin.

What was your dosage of each? What was lacking?

Lower doses for both. On conversion, it was 2:1 of Xanax XR versus Klonopin dose per dose and I continued with twice a day dosing.

I felt most of my anxiety symptoms gradually return at a lower level than original. By the end of the month's trial, I was not having "full blown" panic attacks, but small events and was becoming agoraphobic once again.

That was just my experiences others may have found different and done fine. Klonopin just works better for me and it's alot cheaper. Probably the only way to sort it out for yourself is a trial.
