Free Testosterone dropped 20 points, total same

Posted by cybercafe on January 18, 2005, at 18:26:00

How is "free testosterone" related to total testosterone. I know the definitions (bound to albumin or not) but what determines how much is bound and how much is unbound?

Only free testosterone is bioavailable and so
the free testosterone count is really what matters.
Total testosterone is cheaper to test for and is
sometimes used as a proxy for free testosterone.

Same conc can be insufficiuent or sufficient for two different people. Best test to see if you have a deficiency is to have a supplement injection and see how you respond. See below for more info.

Thanks a lot for the response bro. Really appreciate it. Helped me a lot.

Going to get some books on psychoneuroendocrinology, and have some hormones tested. Finally got a doc that will refer me to an endocrinologist.

If my free testosterone is being converted to prolactin, i imagine there will be some symptoms. i shall do a search on this.

thanks again
