Hi:
I just quit taking Effexor XR 75 MG cold turkey. I have been on it for 7 months and feel that I no longer am in need of it. It has been 2 days and I feel a little jittery, but that seems to be about it. I am also on Wellbutrin 125 MG per day. Can anyone tell me if I will start to feel worse, and how long these feelings last for? Also, will the Wellbutrin help the withdrawl from the Effexor? Thanks so much!

Run, don't walk to your Pdoc and get a prescription for Prozac. Take 20mg per day along with Benedryl and you should feel better. Quitting Effexor cold id NOT a good idea. I have been off Effexor for three weeks now using the above advice.
Good Luck!

MHD-- please be careful! i stopped taking effexor xr 150mg cold turkey about a year and half ago after about six months on it. the first day, i felt a little foggy with flu-like symptoms. within a day or two, the floor fell out from under me, and i was more depressed than i'd ever been before. i couldn't sleep or eat or see a glimmer of brightness in the future. it was definitely a black, drug-induced depression. i finally called my pdoc and she gave me the 37.5mg capsules so i could taper off. this helped, especially with the phsycial symptoms, but it didn't lift my mood much out of depression.
i hope this doesn't scare you and i hope to god it doesn't happen to you. please think about a slower taper, though, if possible. i dont' know what others' experiences are with effexor withdrawal. since i'm not on the med anymore, i don't read the posts about it.
be safe and good luck!
