I've noticed most people say they are taking 10 mg of Lexpapro, at 20 mg DH's anxiety came back. He was told to increase to 30, but that made him to tired, so he was dropped back to 25.
How high of a dosage can you go on Lexapro before you should decide to try something else? I guess what I'm asking is how do you know if it is going to work for you or not?

Ten mg is a typical starting dose. But many people increase that after a while. I have been on 30 mg Lexapro for the past 8 months (used to be on 20mg). I had tiredness also when taking Lexapro alone. But I now take a 200 mg caffeine pill each morning (same as 2 cups of coffee) and also 60 mg Strattera in the am and 60 in the pm. My tiredness is not too bad anymore. And I am feeling better than I ever had before.
My doctor said that if and when the 30 mg Lexapro poops out, he will put me on 40 mg.

I was on 40mg (or was it 50?)of Lexapro at one point. If there is a lot of anxiety you sometimes need more. And it just varies person to person. Sometimes if sleepiness is a side effect adding Wellbutrin can help w/ that. (Unfortunately it makes me an anxious mess.) Lex wasn't completely helpful for me. I ended up adding a TCA. Still hoping that works...

I also take 30mg with good results. One poster who hasn't been around for a while Cletu2 was taking 100mg. The literature claims 20mg is the highest dose. My pdoc disagrees and has told me if I need to he will go up from 30.
