Side effect: anemia?

Posted by Kimbersaur on December 9, 2004, at 9:20:42

Im on Lamictal (200/day), Effexor (150), and Seroquel (150). I just found out I am anemic, and wondered if it could be from my meds?

Hi,

Lamictal has rarely been reported to cause anemia but I think it's unlikely to be the cause. Effexor can increase bleeding eg. during menstruation, this might lead to iron-deficiency anemia. Has Effexor caused you to have heavy menstruation? In fact, I don't know whether you are a woman! Do you know what type of anemia you have got?

Regards,
Ed.

Yes, I am female. It definitely didn't increase my periods, in fact, they have just decreased because I switched my birth control pills recently. Im not sure what kind of anemia I have.

Wow,
I didn't know that Effexor made my anemia worse. I have the worse periods ever. I practically bleed out. :) (Sorry Ed)
