Medication or Shock induced seizures

Posted by DarlaMarie on November 30, 2004, at 18:25:23

This is my first time trying this. I really need help with this. I am on 60mg of Celexa for depression and 200mg of Topamax for bipolar #2. About a week ago I was unable to take my medication for about 31 hours. During that time I had an emotional and traumatic conversation with my boyfriend. As he was driving me home I had a series of 5 to 7 seizures. I have never had seizures before. Can being off my medication for 31 hours cause seizures? The thing is now if I get a little emotional my hand or head will start to shudder; also at night as I am about to go to sleep. I do not have health insurance and am on a very limited income, I cannot afford extensive medical testing. Does anyone have any similar experiences or ideas or help?

The shaking starting slowly with only one side of the body with only a couple of limbs and then would ramp up to include the whole body. With each following session of seizure the shaking would get more violent and the time it took to go from a couple of limbs and one side of the body lessened. Until the last few were just the whole body of uncontrolled shaking. The shaking would last of awhile (I would guess about a minute) and then subside. My boyfriend tried to hold my arms because even when I wasn't seizing my right arm would rise and would uncontrollably paw at the side at my face. I did feel nauseous. I had some clonazapam with me and took one 5mg. That helped a tiny bit. I took another 5mg and within 40 minutes the seizing had stopped. I take clonazapam for anxiety, later I learned it is also an anti-seizure medicine.

Yes, it was very scary and yes I was nauseous afterwards. Was yours life mine. What were the circumstances with yours? Had you been off your meds or did you have an emotional situation?
