I don't know what would happen to you, but as an alternative, if you can afford a few pills, might I suggest going to the pharmacy and asking for as many as you can afford for now. I used to work at a pharmacy and people would do this all the time. Also, we had a rather sympathetic pharmacist who would occasionally give customers a few pills to hold them over until their prescription came through or whatever. Maybe you can plead your case. Also, if you aren't going to be able to afford them for a while, ask the pharmacist for a few to taper down with (if that is what you are supposed to do with lamictal...I don't know about that).
Or maybe you could get samples from your doc?
good luck.

Hi, I know what you are going through. If it wasn't for government assistant programs I couldn't afford any of my medications. My Trileptal alone is over $330.00 a prescription. My total med cost are over $800.00 a month. But enough about me.

How can I help you.

Well,

When I first became ill and would run out of meds I would always try to contact my Dr.'s office and see if they had any samples I could use. Maybe you could try that. Just a thought. And the previous poster's comment about buying only a few pills would also be an option. Although you pay more for each pill if you buy less if that makes any sense

Wish you the best,

BRC

Sandy,

I don't know what would happen if you went cold turkey, but could you try to make arrangements so you don't have to find out? Perhaps the pharmacy would re-fill the script and allow you to pay with a post-dated check. Or could your pdoc give you a week's worth of samples to hold you over until you have the money to get the script filled? Just a couple of options that might help you avoid having to find out what might happen.

Good luck and take care.

Tamara

Lamictal is still a "Newer drug" so your doc should have some boxes of the medication to provide you,its not a benzo and im not aware of any abuse potential,so youre doc not doing so would be,well pretty evil, like denying someone water when there tongue is on fire.Hopefully your doc is human and can EASLY pass along a few samples, maybe even a free pen and pad set,i know i had at one point 3 boxes simplpy for inquiring about the medication, wish i still had it for ya.

That i imagine would be the main primary choice, worst case however taurine,a natural amino acid sold in health stores crosses the blood brain barrier and acts very similiar,it stablizes nerver activity through the body and brain, and has been looked at for seizure and anxiety and mood stablization,i have used it myself.

Combing this with a small dose of klonopin iif you can get that might help quell any withdrawal symtpoms, both are inhibitory and both are said to be nuero-protective preventing over stimulation of cell acitivity in the brain.

A great bran is country lifes taurine tabs,it includes a small amount of b6 to help aid it,and it very potent in getting to the brain and cheap.I know i am always able to lower a klonopin dose using these togther.Of course this is a recomendation, researching taurine should be fairly easy.....i rember good info on google using the search term.....taurine the way up.good luck
