DBS involves placing mechanically-controlled electrodes in the thalamic region of the brain.. these electrodes release a magnetic field which stimulated surrounding areas of the brain... it has been used for many years to treat movement disorders in Parkinsons patients... its also an experimental treatment for treatment-refractory OCD... and know its being applied to depression!

I'm treated at the Clarke too. Who is heading up the DBS investigation?

I'm not quite sure actually... but it looks intriguing, I'm just concerned about the actual surgery itself...

I read DBS is only helpful for parkinsons disease and possibly OCD. Because of the akathisia connection with OCD. I very skeptical DBS be helpful for depression. Please excuse my English.

I know this is a very old thread and I apologize for digging it up. I just wondering if any of the OPs can provide updates on their treatments?

This topic (DBS) is gaining attention and enough time has passed to perhaps learn if the OPs have benefited at all.

This is the end of the thread.
