My doctor just prescribed klonopin to me for social anxiety. He said to take one .5mg twice a day and that I should notice a difference in 5 to 7 days. He also said I could increase by .5mg after a week if needed (up to 3mg). Does this sound right? I thought the starting dose was .25mg twice a day, but he looked in his pdr book and found otherwise.
I've also been taking Nardil for 3 weeks. No improvement on that, but I am not up to 60mg yet.

The plan you spell out sounds right to me. I'm a long term Klonopin user and I began at .25mgs twice a day. We are all different and metabolisms, body size, and any number of factors come into play as what becomes a good maintance dosing.
My doc made dose changes at about the 10 days to 2 week mark as that did turn out to be the time frame it took me to adjust and really know the peak results. Again, that was just me.

I just started Klonopin today as well. My dosages are 2mg at wake-up, 1mg half-way through the day, and 1mg PM. I am just starting my regimen not having been on any benzo for about the last 3 months. My dose is rather high to start with, even in my opinion, but I'm a hardhead when it comes to benzos having a theraputic effect on me, plus my social anxiety and generalized anxiety is very severe.

> JustinDoes this not knock you out? I took .5mg and have accidentally fallen asleep twice today. I woke up slighly confused both times because I didn't remember going to sleep. My vision seems a little doubled too. It could be extra intense since I'm taking Nardil as well.

i am allowed to take .5 up to 4 times a day. there are some days i dont take any at all. i can take it if i feel the need. i have never felt the need to take more than 2 pills a day. you should be fine. see how it goes for a couple days and let us know. good luck!

Lol, no it doesn't knock me out. First off, I weigh 190lbs, and secondly if your anxiety is really high enough, then the benzo, even starting out, should not sedate you, it should in theory even out the overactive hypervigilant parts of the brain.
