I suffer from night terrors. I have had this for years but have often wondered about how medications influence the terrors.
This site lists a few meds that can be used to stop night terrors. I didn't think they could be stopped.

Many psychotropic medications can cause night-terrors. SSRI's can certainly cause nightmares.

I'll have to have a look at the site. I have suffered from night terrors since I was about 4 years old (started after I had my tonsils out). They got so bad in my teens that I would wake up in the morning to a bedroom that had been completely torn apart (drapes pulled off the rod, clothes off the hangers, lamps across the room . . .) or with some serious rug burn after crawling along the floor to escape a falling ceiling. One time I actually was about to jump over the railing from the upstairs to get away from whatever was after me in the terror. Luckily my dad grabbed me before I managed to jump. I used to think I was psycotic. They subsided for a while, only to come back again after my last surgery in my mid-twenties. Now, they are few and far between, but still come back to haunt me. They are the scariest thing. I look forward to reading the website.

Gosh Tamara, mine arn't nearly as bad as yours. How absolutely terrifying for you. This is just one site I posted, but if you search night terrors, sleep terrors, sleep disorders or parva nocturnus, you should find a wealth of information on this condition.
I wish very peaceful nights for you.

Thanks Sabrina. I will do some searching. I have just learned to live with them when they come. Needless to say, I have freaked a few people out over the years when I wake up screaching like a banche and throwing things around. Oh well, keeps life exciting!
