Week 10 of Cymbalta

Posted by steve12 on October 25, 2004, at 21:23:49

I am going on week 10 of Cymbalta and here's what I have to report:

1. First, it is not covered by my insurance (well, it requires prior justification from my PCP, who refuses to write a letter) -- thus I am relying on samples.

2. Although it was up and down in some ways, I have evened out within the past 2 weeks on 40 mgs, qam.

3. No need to take food with it.

4. It's good for anxiety

5. My libido is better, but ED is a big problem (more so than with Effexor)

6. Sweating is a big problem

7. Nonetheless, I like it -- my mood is good and I'm surpised at how good it is with anxiety

8. I intend to keep taking it -- it's my med now, unless the samples run out -- then who knows?

9. Previously, I was on effexor 150, I have also been on Celexa, Prozac, Lexapro, Anafranil, Wellbutrin.

10. I wish Lilly would come out with a 40 mgs dose, the 20's are hard to find.

11. PCP's generally are ignorant in terms of psych issues

Due to the samples issue, I went without meds for 8 days -- no big withdrawl.

Steve12,

If you are interested in continuing on the Cymbalta, please babblemail me. I have done quite a bit of research on the best LEGAL places to get it (as I have no insurance). As long as you have a prescription, I could save you quite a bit of money.

Kara

I'm a lawyer and right now there are no legal places to get Cymbalta other than through US pharmacies -- whether that will change in the future is to be determined (and not by 11/2 next week despite the rhetoric)

Thanks anyways,

Steve

Legal Purchase of Cymbalta

Hello there,

Kara is correct...as long as you *HAVE* a prescription for the medicine, there are online websites, within the United States, that can help you obtain your prescriptions legally and at a lower cost.

The key is you MUST HAVE A PRESCRIPTION.

I've ordered from them myself when I did not have insurance.

Best Wishs,
Violet

That's not true -- while it is true that the FDA allowed the personal import of a 3 month supply under President Clinton, that regulation has been revised (which is why you hear so much about the "danger" of mail order pharmacies, Canada trips, etc.) Currently, the position of the FDA is that importing personal supplies of meds is unwise, although they have not made it illegal, it is really a grey area if you take the totality of the FDA regs.

Many internet sites will say that it is your constitutional right to import drugs. The first thing a prosecuting lawyer will ask you when you're on the stand (if you take the stand) is where in the constitution does it say that?

Why won't your doc write the letter? What reason did he give you? Most PCP's are very knowledgable about psych drugs and as a whole, they prescribe a lot more than psychiatrists.

B/c he's not prescribing it -- makes no sense. But there are other reasons in terms of HMO kickbacks (my wife is a doc and knows about it)

So even if you stopped the cymbalta for those days you did not get any side effects? did you get side effects with any other medicines?

Can't you get your wife to write you a script then?
