Can anyone share their experiences with lamictal for depression? Particularly, at what dosage they started to experience some difference in mood and how long at that dosage.

Then that slowly fades away. I see this happen to most people on the the board here ... although several say that once they reach 200 to even up to 400mgs ... the positive feeling remain. I am on 100mgs now and thinking about whether to jack it up to 200 to 400 mgs.

Like a rush of being social and talkative, but also some serotonin like side effects such as headache, sexual dysfunction and nausea. I have heard some people assert that lamictal has some mild serotonin reuptake inhibition properties.

I started to feel great at 50 mgs during the second week (best i'd felt in 3 years). This faded a week later. So im tirating up as we speak. And noticed it does get better as i go up.

Thanks. Looks like 200 is kinda a magic number. Got about a week before I'm there. The great thing about this drug seems to be the lack of side effects (so far). I'm gonna stick with it mostly for that reason as anorgasmia is depressing in itself.

Thanks for the response. Am sticking with it. Looking forward to 200 as have had no response up to where I am now, which is 150.

Does lamictal have any problems with alcohol? I'm only at 25 mg and having no problems.

got drunk last night and had quite a hangover but that's prob cause I haven't drank that much for awhile. Heard most A/Ds are slightly effected by alcohol but not dangerously -- though would consult pdoc for more informed opinion.

When I was drinking, I fought this forever.
Alcohol is a depressant. It may not harm you, but you are wasting your time taking antidepressants if you drink with them.
After not drinking now for a period of time (1 1/2 years) meds are a whole different story and much more effective than when I was drinking with them. It took my ten years but I finally wised up!
