The lithium makes me excessively urinate. It's horrible. I've tried depakote and it gave me severe diarhhea. tegretol gave me a rash. Any ideas. Thanks

The more you drink, the more you will void;
that may be a good thing in hot weather when
the lithium may increase. Under normal circumstances, i find i have to go to the
bathroom ONCE at night -- i have gotten used
to it, and as i like water, i don't mind
drinking a lot.If it is bothersome for you, you might
try beef bouillion, or other non-caloric
beverages.Squiggles

Squiggles - so you take lithium too. My problem is I am urinating about every 45 minutes. My lithium level is fine, it's just that my kidneys have gotten sensitive to the stuff and seem to make me go to the bathroom all the time. In addition, I take risperdal which makes me very hungry, so I drink liquids instead of eat. I tried depakote, but it gave me really bad diarhhea. Do you take an antipsychotic too?

That *is* frequent urination -- from my
experience, either you have just started
the lithium and getting used to it (slowing
down later), or your kidneys were not tested
for lithium clearance.I don't take any other "psychiatric" drugs -
i take Synthroid and clonazepam ( a left-over
mistake, imho which can no longer be reversed).Squiggles
