Does anyone know how long it takes Topamax to enter your system? My daughter has been taking it for four days, and I am wondering when it will start to help her binge eating. 25 mg am and 25 mg pm for one week.Then up it goes. She has gained around 30 pounds in the past couple years, and has taken Lexapro and Wellbutrin. She is still taking the Wellbutrin. Thanks to anyone who can help me with ANY information concerning this.

It suppressed my appetite right away, at 25 mg. But that only lasted about a week. When the dosage was upped...I lost my appetite again...and that didn't last. I've read that to experience the weight loss properties you have to hit the higher dosages. I never got that high. Topomax made me too stupid.

Hi stressed,
I experienced appetite and weight loss at 100mg, but once my body adjusted to the med (at a final dose of 400mg day), my appetite went back to normal, as it usually does with most everyone. I quit taking it due to too many side effects.

Same for me. Well said.
I believe most folks looking to Topomax for weight loss, will utlimately, be disappointed. Most weight loss, if it happens at all, is temporary and the negative side effects of this drug are not minor, IMO.
