prozac 60mg, is this alot?

I have been taking prozac 60mg for almost a week now.I have taken 40mg for 2months before that.For some odd reason, i think this is too much.Any suggestions?I think it is because my mom told me 20mg was the standard dose.Also, i read a site that says the more you take, you dont get more of a benefit, just more side effects.

It's not too much. They can go up to 80mg's.

20mg is the standard dose but my pdoc said they go up to 80mg or it might have even been 90mg. I can't remember exactly. But anyhow, 60mg is not too high. I may have to go up that high too. I'm at 20mg but I think we are going to have to go higher. I've taken 20mg before and it didn't work. I hope the 60mg works for you. Good luck.

I had taken 80mg of Prozac for 7 years and at one point 100mg until I decided to switch to another AD as my pdoc and I had determined that Prozac by itself and in different combos with other ADs, such as Wellbutrin, Remeron, Lamictal and Lithium, had pooped out. Currently, I am on 30mg of Lexapro and am unipolar depression free 3 months now. Lexapro worked equally as well as Prozac, with less side effects. Prior to Lexapro I was on Nardil which also worked well but caused me to have intense insomnia. I am male. Good luck.
