I started taking effexor 3 weeks ago. I had been taking celexa for over a year. They weened me off completely of the celexa as of a week ago, I have just been on the effexor. For the past week I have had ongoing headaches soom very extreme. Also I have had bouts of angery spells, I do not have this under normal cercustances. Does anyonr know if the headaches stop?

I experienced headaches when I began taking Effexor. They were the worse when I went from 75mg to 150mg. They only lasted about a week until by body adjusted to the dose increase.

So the headaches were just due to your boby adjusting?Did you have any other simptoms? thank you for your responce

I experienced mild headaches in the first week of 75mg and by the third week was waking up most mornings with a headache that usually went away on it's own. Have an achey feeling in my head most days but at least it's not extreme

My effexor headaches were from my blood pressure being too high. Have you had it checked recently? We ended up backing off on the dosage to 75mg and titrating more slowly back up to 150mg where I am now. (And I'm on XR.)

Hi Shaz -
I also had headaches when I started Effexor. I also experienced changes in my vision which didn't help the headaches.
For me these faded out after about a month. None were bad enough for me to quit taking the Effexor.
As one of the previous poster suggested, you may wish to have your blood pressure checked since Effexor is known for causing an increase in BP...especially at higher doses.
Good Luck! I hope the Effexor works for you. (It's such a pain to go through the adjustments of a new medication then not have it work --- been there done that too many times.)

My vision also became more blurry as if my eye muscles weren't able to focus on anything. Oh and having an orgasm took forever and ever. Very frustrating.
