There is a period of adjustment. Please tell me you are using this under the care of a doc and not treating yourself.

I had really a bad experience with Klon beacuse it has a long half life. If I took any even 1/4 of a .5 mg, i would be tired and depressed for 2 days.

some people klon works great on, You'll know after about a week if it consistently tires you or relieves anxiety. xanax having a shorter half life suits me much better.

Well, I never think that's a good idea, but far be it from me to judge another on the standards I hold as I do not put my feet in your shoes. I have been fortunate to have a supportive doc and I know a number of docs are, shall we say, not open to the idea of benzo use in combo or otherwise.

I was not suggesting you were plaaning to misuse, for the record.

I hope it works out well for you.

Being a successful long term Klono, The sleepiness generally does not last much more than the first 3 or so weeks. However, taken on an empty stomach (most effective) can still cause drowsiness. I must say in the 3 years I have been taking it, I have never slept so well in my life, (not to mention panic free.)

I'm on Klonopin, too, now, short term for terrible fear. I didn't know you could take it long term - for fear of addiction issues. Am I misinformed?

For me it works well for anxiety and sleep. However, unfortunately it also makes me groggy the next morning and tired and depressed all day. (That's taking 1mg -1.5 mg at night)

~~~Actually you are. But, you aren't going to hear that from most sources when researching. Unfortunately, oftentimes, docs aren't well informed either. Klonopin has been used for about 40 years. It is quite safe and following some simple guidelines can give some of us years of good treatment without pitfalls.
Addiction has a set of behaviors and characteristics:
1. Psycho-Social disruption
2. Tolerence not leading to a maintance dosing
3. Inapproiate use
4. Drug seeking behavior
Physical dependence is quite different from addiction and I'll take that any day over not having a life due to anxiety.
I have used Klonopin for almost 3 years with great success. My dosage is low and has never increased, to date, from my original dosing.
Benzos are not a suitable treatment for everyone but, for some of us, they actually successfully treat awful toxic anxiety when other "stuff" or strategies simply do not.
I bet that was a lot more than you really wanted to know, wasn't it?
Can you tell I'm an advocate? I needed to be as when I came here around 3 years ago, there was no "me". There were a lot of folks telling me I would regret ever hearing of Klonopin. I have not.
That was great feedback guys. Im going to try and stick to 1.5 daily, divided into 3 doses as i have definately noticed it helping with the anxiety. And that is brilliant. Anxiety is the worst feeling in the world, it actually hurts.
Thanks again , i will be careful xxxx
And those that don't experience this don't realize that one can't just "snap out of" such a state and be "normal," like them.
