hello there, chemist here....from personal experience - and from reading posts outlining similar experiences - i can report that low doses of seroquel can be quite sedating for many who have tried it in that range, and that higher doses are less sedating. sedation does not necessarily equal depression but as we know, it's hard to delineate sometimes. you might look into a different dosing schedule if you find yourself being too bogged down, in consult with your doctor....all the best, chemist

I think Chemist is definately more of an expert on this than me, but just recently I stopped Seroquel after a 1 week trial. It seemed to induce depression, melacholy and agitation. I am finally back on my old combo and am getting better.

Seroquel was very sedative for me.

Good luck to you friend,

Ace

hello there, chemist (again)....i am hardly an expert in the vagaries of seroquel use, except in keeping a mental tally of all the quite similar reports of sedation in the low-dose level, perhaps....ace's nom-de-plume is self-explanatory, see his other posts, you'll see what i mean.....be well, and all the best, chemist

Seroquel causes Somnolence.

Seroquel & Zyprexa are very potent antihistamines which is why they are sedating. While you are not asleep, you are probably experiencing somnolence, which is a feeling of wanting to do nothing. After a period of time, you will build tolerance to this & become more normal.

IMHO, Low dose Risperdal would be a more suitable AP for anxiety, but if you have no psychotic symptoms, you would be better served with a sedating AD such as Remeron, Trazodone and some of the TCA's.

Cheers,
Panda.

I didn't like the way I felt on Seroquel. It made me feel more depressed and irritable. I don't recall how much I took.

Lower dosages (25-50mg) tend to be more sedating than high dosages, and as Chemist suggested, might sometimes feel similar to or be misinterpreted as depression. I know someone who is taking 700mg for psychotic depression. It works, and she experiences very little sedation.

Hey, I usually take 25mg when I get home from work just to relax for a while, and then 100mg at bedtime. It just seems to make me mellow and doesn't effect depression, if not help it out by calming the thoughts down for a while. If you have problems with motivation, it might not be the best drug for you. Gudluck!
