Anyone trying Cymbalta when it's in Pharmacies?

Posted by theo on August 13, 2004, at 12:31:19

Is anyone out there going to try Cymbalta as soon as it hits the pharmacies? Any docs predicting if this will be a good med or not?

I'm camped out in the parking lot waiting for the wholesaler to drop off the first bottle.

Actually, I'm hoping that my doctor will get in some samples before the pharmacies get it. Unfortunately, he's on vacation, so I think someone else will beat me to it. I don't think he has an opinion yet one way or the other. I'm afraid to hope.

I called Lilly and they said reps would not hand out samples until it was avalable in pharmacies so patients wouldn't start and finish a sample pack and not be able to get it from a pharmacy. They said by September 1st hopefully.

Thanks for the update. That makes a great deal of sense.

Are you going to try it when it becomes available?

I want to start feeling better yesterday.

Probably, my pdoc has me on Lamictal mono and keeps fighting me adding an AD, she thinks I'm BPII because of anxiety? I have anxiety 24/7 and am wondering if she's right or wrong since it's constant. I've gone through this long enough to know I'll probably keep the Lamictal as a mood stabilizer but it's not enough of an antidepressant alone, although my pdoc keeps insisting it is. When I'm stable I'll add Cymbalta because I've always wanted to try a true dual but was hesitante to try Imipramine because of side effects, a lot of family heart disease.

Hi theo, You definetely could have BP II as anxiety is definetly a trademark of it (amongst other thngs of course). I have to admit that I am curious about the Cymbalta.. I wonder if the w/d is really bad like Effexor.

You bet! I've been waiting for it ever since my pdoc mentioned it to me a couple of years ago. As I understand it, Cymbalta may even put a dent into major depressive disorder (MDD). The word "remission" was even thrown around. I could sure stand that!

In the meantime, if you're looking for me, I'll be out in the parking lot with Scott.
