Anyone taking Effexor + Remeron?

I will be seeing my doc soon and want to go into my appt. with some ideas on what I would like to try to augment Effexor XR (150mg) and combat my evening anxiety and insomnia. I LOVE the energizing effects of Effexor, but I'm thinking that I may need an increase in my level of serotonin. Are there any major side effects with Remeron? What might be the benefits of taking it with Effexor? Last night I woke every hour on the hour even after taking 50mg of Benadryl 30 min. before bedtime and I can't go on like this much longer. Trazadone makes me feel very sick the next day. I've tried Valerian Root, Melatonin and Inositol too without much success in beating this brutal insomnia.

Hi Colleen,

Effexor & Remeron are very good together, I was taking both for nine months. Try & keep your Remeron doseage low as it is very sedating when you first take. I would start at 7.5mg & see if that is enough for a while & move up to 15mg later.
