hiya, ive just found this site after looking up this drug my doctor recommended. I hate the thought of putting on weight (body image not so good anyway), also the sexual disfunction, as im not so hot in that department anyway. Should i just try it or what? I see you all have had different experiences. I just want to feel happier, cant ever remember feeling this. What do you think?

Effexor is not that bad in terms of weight gain ... its true some do gain but some also lose quite a bit of weight as well ... it tends to supress the appetite a bit.

I think for me, it did increase my appetite, but then I went on Wellbutrin and that helped decrease my appetite. Maybe think about Wellbutrin since that tends to decrease the appetite. Every drug is different for everybody. You have to find one that you think works and weigh (no pun intended) the side effects. I was on Effexor and just came off due to electrical zap feelings. I was on 300 mg a day so that could be why I as getting those zaps. Not to scare you away from the drug, just note that coming off of this drug is not very easy so make sure you taper slowly!
