Abilify

Posted by ABW on July 20, 2004, at 21:04:49

I started Abilify this morning. I took 7.5 mg at about 10 AM, and by about 12:30 I was dead tired (And I had only been up 4 or 5 hours). It was all I could do to hold my head up and not fall asleep, which I ended up doing anyway.

Seeing that my entire purpose of seeing the psychiatrist was to overcome my lethargy which is a result of my depression, is abilify a good idea? The doc gave it to me for my obsessvie and paranoid thoughts. I was diagnosed with BPD, but I believe I may only have unipolar depression.

My question is, is this side effect normal and will it subside? Will I finally become energetic enough to leave my house?

Abilify has a tendance to make you feel tired. Hard to explane. Some times from lack of sleep and even when you get enough sleep. If abilify does not work, you could try wellbutrin and an SSRI. Sometimes abilify works better at a realy small dose, like 2-3 mg.

Some say Abilify is sedating at first and then (even after a few days) activating. Didn't sedate me, but made me too anxious.

i have been on Abilify for a week and found I need less sleep, I am more anxious and coffee affects me more but generally OK - less side effects as the week wore on. I am going to stick with it although I am nervous as I am tapering off Sulpiride and the last thing I need is a psychosis from that as I am going abroad for six months in six weeks.
Is it good for psychosis? Any good experiences?
thanks
