My pdoc has me prescribed to 2mg Xanax XR once daily (in the morning)....she tells me that this is enough to last me the entire day....(up until bedtime). Is this really true? It feels as if it wears off later on in the day...Some have said to break it up into 1mg doses twice daily, but then I would only have half the amount of Xanax in me at any given time, correct?

I dont think you are suppose to break apart the all day xanax, its time released. I was taking 2mg also, and it made me very sleepy all day. So, i got back on the regular ones. I can still take up to 2 mg each day, but I break one in half in the morning and take the other half in the afternoon and a whole one at bed. Its been alot better for me. And i have panic disorder but taking them like that helps alot.
