Anyone take Remeron SolTab?

Posted by utopizen on June 25, 2004, at 20:58:46

I know the tablets are generic, but after experiencing Klonopin Wafers (before I realized I needed to see a pdoc who took my depression seriously, not my social anxiety which I no longer obsess about having and accept) I did like the whole you don't need water thing.

It's "discreet" they say, but that's clearly not a good reason. The real reason to take it is because it puts you to sleep quicker than the 40 minutes Remeron tabs take.

Still, I wish my insurance didn't treat self-desintegrating wafers like they're candy (well, Remeron SolTab is afterall orange tasting, though!) because it's the difference between $5 co-pay and $30 co-pay, and I already have enough brand name stuff that takes up $30 each with my dermatologics (another target "luxury" in the eyes of insurance companies).

You could try taking the tablet 40 minutes before going to bed. :)

Off Topic, have you tried or considered Nortriptyline?

Cheers,

I'm due to start taking the Sol-tab after taking the tablet form for nearly a year...Organon are stopping making it in tablet form (although the Sol-tab was available before), I've been told that this is because the patent has run out. Other companies can now make it and Organon have changed it for marketing reasons but it's still exactly the same.
I don't know anything about price increase, as in England, National Heath Service prices remain at £6.40 for every prescription whichever drug it is, so the tablet and Sol-tab cost the same.

The trick about sleep is not to think it's an automatic function that meds will help you make. That makes the meds tend to fail, as I had terrible insomnia during December finals week and it cost me a lot, incompletes and the anxiety that followed those.

Don't ever depend on a med to help you sleep. You're on one, Remeron, that will, but the trick is to work on relaxation techniques that help it work better.

I've noticed my self-hypnosis tape, which relaxes me plus trained me on breathing exercises, got better after committing to it every night for months.

Even if it doesn't work, play it and follow it each night anyway. And never try sleeping for more than 30 minutes, or else you'll stay awake all night.

Get up after 30 minutes and read something boring for a few minutes. Repeat until you finally fall asleep.

You don't want to rely on refill dates or drugs in general as the sole method of having a good night's sleep. You owe it to yourself to learn how to cope with the cause of your sleep, anxiety.

I agree but some meds can help anxiety and thus improve sleep.
