HELP with klonopin

Posted by tampagirl70 on June 24, 2004, at 10:24:07

last night i took .25mg klonopin for the 1st time and it made me VERY relaxed, i felt like spaghetti, i felt kind of "drunk". this morning i took .125mg since i was going to work and i didn't want to be woozy at work. i felt the anxiety dissipate, but now, less than 3 hours later, i'm feeling anxious again. i was taking xanax and i thought that klonopin might make me less drowsy, that's why i tried it. i've heard that klonopin is longer lasting than xanax, but i feel like its not working as well as the xanax. is this a transitional thing or should i just stick with the xanax if i know it works? this anxiety is crushing me!

Maybe, since you have a history with benzos in xanax, the klonopin doseage you took this morning was not a high enough one. Maybe as you transition to klonopin, you might think about xanax for during the day. I can assure you that the spaghetti like feeling doesn't last very long with klonopin. Your body gets used to it and if you ever want to feel like spaghetti again, you better be prepared to take like 10 pills at once LOL!
I can't really comment on xanax because I have never had the pleasure......

i just took a .25mg xanax about 20 minutes ago and i'm feeling better, so that should get me through the day. i'm also going to call my pdoc tomorrow and ask that he call in a script for the xanax since i'm not sold on the klonopin. i only have one xanax left - i better save it for when i really need it!!

hello there, chemist again.....klonopin and xanax are very similar drugs but are not quite the same, i.e., you cannot take away the xanax and replace with klonopin without some discomfort. this is why you need to let klonopin titrate into your system slowly, and continue the xanax until the level of klonopin is sufficient to ease your anxiety. all the best, chemist

I agree with chemist. I would give Klonopin a fair trial to see if it's a good med for you. A couple of days probably isn't enough. I know anxiety is hellish, I have been there. But, don't allow this temporary bad time to cloud you on what could be a good answer. High anxious states can make us quite desparate for relief. People do use Xanax, as needed, to get them to the point where the Klonopin is truly helping.
