Sooooooo sleepy!

Posted by Catgirl on June 14, 2004, at 19:27:39

It's not even 8:30pm and I would love to go to bed. I've been on Lexapro for almost one week--please tell me that the fatigue goes away! I yawned almost nonstop today.

Thanks for the response! I take Lexapro in the morning so I guess that's part of the problem. Maybe I will give it a little longer, then see if I can take it at night. I was a little less sleepy today but I did fall asleep as soon as I got home!

Just wanted to let you know that after 3 weeks of being on Lexapro and having to take naps every chance I got, I asked my doctor for Provigil. It's been a week now and it worked from day one. I feel normal again and I'm not thinking every minute when I can go back to sleep. I highly recommend it!

yes it does go away. I drink lots of COFFEE!!!! Also do not listen to your brain telling you it's sleepy, it's pulling your leg. When you are further along, you may still get that feeling, I would ignore it and get up and start moving and get involved in projects at work and pretty soon that tired feeling would evaporate. It's like the body is willing and able but you have to convince the brain to shut up!

I was on Celexa before, which is Lexapro's predecessor.

I was sleepy for the 1st month or two on it, and after finally complaining about it to my p-doc, he gave me a funny look and said "have you tried taking it at night?"

To which I naturally say, "ooo--hh... good idea!"

It works, trust me. Switch to PM dosing if you haven't. Sleepiness went away for me, but the therapeutic benefit happens in your sleep, it's great.

After trying that, you should probably call your doc to ask for advice on what to do. He'll likely prescribe some Provigil, and then if that fails trying around with the dosing to Adderall should work.
