opinions on Focalin?

Posted by SDA on May 15, 2004, at 23:48:07

I'm going to start taking Focalin in a day or two. I don't really have a diagnosis for ADD, but more of a "brain fog" thing that's been wreaking havoc on my life for more than half a year now. The first popular theory was that I was depressed, so I started taking SSRIs. Prozac just made everything worse, and Zoloft (which I've been on for about 8 weeks) is probably doing more harm than good as well. I took myself down from 75mg of Zoloft to 50mg, and have been there for almost two weeks.

So do you think Focalin will do anything for me? How safe is it? I've heard that it can aggrivate ticking, which worries me since I have had some problems with that in the past.

It's really powerful , from my experience. The only problem is that it wore off quickly for me which resulted in a pretty bad crash. As for side effects , I got really nervous from it. It would be in situations where i'd be nervous off it , but the focalin would just make me more nervous. I got bad ticks on adderal but not focalin.

I didn't have a good experience on Focalin. My decision making was off - once I pulled out right in front of another car and got a ticket for it. I don't even remember seeing the car. I had other experiences like that, too, but not as dramatic. But of course everyone is different. I have always been very sensitive to meds. I often take only a fourth as much as is recommended to start. Maybe I had taken too much Focalin for my system.

I had a GREAT experience on focalin, for what I was using it for. I took it through college, but only took it when I had to do research, work on a long paper, etc. Any social-ness will quickly leave you, but I was able to pound out great essays like it was my day job. I can most liken it to Ritalin with the effects, except slightly stronger, and lasts a bit shorter, around 3 hours give or take.
