Please let me know if you know of any legal Reversible Inhibitors of Monoamine Oxidase's and how does one go about obtaining them? I live in the USA.

Have you checked out all the feedback about Moclobemide on Psychobabble? Over the years, people who have tried it have reported very mixed results. I was one who positively hated it. That being said, I would imagine that you could probably obtain it on-line through a Canadian pharmacy or take a trip north of the border to get it. Good luck. Pls. post whatever you do with this

In the early 1990s, Roche tried to get moclobemide approved in the US for the indication of social phobia. They halted the project when the clinical investigations they were conducting in the US failed to demonstrate efficacy.

The good thing about moclobemide is that it can make someone feel better almost immediately, usually in the first week and without side effects. It can be energizing and motivating. The bad thing about moclobemide is that it tends to lose efficacy very quickly, necessitating a continual escalation of dosage to maintain the positive antidepressant effect. The therapeutic range of dosages seems to be between 450mg and 900mg. Very few people maintain an improvement at 300mg. Sometimes dosages up to 1200mg are used.

Please bear in mind that moclobemide does work wonderfully for some people. I think this can be said about any antidepressant. I would not want to discourage someone from trying a treatment that might be ideal for them. However, if your depression is chronic, severe, and disabling, it probably makes sense to try one of the irreversible MAOIs sooner than later.

Good luck.

I have been on Nardil for the past couple of years, as well as Neurontin and was on Klonopin for awhile until I went in to detox off of it to go into LT treatment...thanks to those who have offered feedback
