Electric Head

Posted by Hez on April 5, 2004, at 16:24:01

Hey guys,

I am on my 3rd week of Effexor XR. Started off at 37.5 and moved up to 75. I have had minimal side effects, loss of appetite mostly but it is leveling off (at least now I can tell I am hungry), moderate nausea after I eat more than I have been, a bit tired towards the end of the day and awesome crazy dreams!

Just in the last few days, tho, I have started to experience this tingling, electirc sensation at the top of my head and I wanted to post because I do remember someone else stated that. Its so weird! It feels like my pony tail is too tight. I also noticed that its not all the time but mostly when I am excited or anxious about something. Its like I when you get the chills when someone sings, thats what its starts out like and then it gets prickly. I have to keep pressing on my head! That's too funny.

My mood has improved. I DO have some really bad down days but am learning to just stay home and not interact with people when that happens (instead of appearing miserable to everyone).

This board has been really great for me. Thanks to everyone for their input.

Best,
Hez

This is what most people around here call *brain zaps*. I personally did not find them bad, simply weird.

They tend to go away after awhile, as most Effexor side effects. I've been on Effexor now since last October.

Great stuff.

I concur. Most side effects tend to dissipate within 2-4 weeks. Also, the therapeutic range for Effexor monotherapy doesn't start until you reach 150mg. Hopefully by the time you titrate up to that level, the side effects should be gone.

Good luck!
