Meds, insomnia, and is anyone awake out there?

Anyone out there who can't sleep either? Meds aren't helping with the insomnia.

Surmontil (trimipramine) is a sedating tricyclic that also has atypical antipsychotic properties. I believe you would find it much more effective for sleep than the Seroquel.

I honestly do not know why she put me on seroquel. I am not schizophrenic nor am I bipolar. I didn't know what seroquel was until after my appointment, so I was unable to ask for the rationale.
Thanks.

For the past few weeks, I have had about 3-4? nights a week that I do not sleep a wink and just roll right into the next day. I was given Sonata (10 mg./night) some time last month, but it only seemed to help for a couple of nights...what meds are you currently on for sleep? I have been on many things before: Ambien, Trazodone, Valium, Serax, Atarax, Seroquel...and probably more that i just cannot think of this moment...so if you have any ?'s about these sleep meds, i can probably help you out there!!
Best,
L.

hey laree,
i was prescirbed sonata, too, and i think it's absolutely worthless. i took it after five months of decent sleep on ambien, and even though the two are supposed to be very similar, sonata didn't come close to being as effective as ambien. i was pretty disappointed...

Was given samples of sonata before, but it didn't really help. Am now on seroquel and so far I only slept really well the first night. Since then it has been pretty much the usual. I have a hard time falling asleep and then staying asleep. I usually am up about one or so in the morning. Wish I could vacuum at that time, but don't think my neighbors would appreciate that too much. :)
