meds managed by a pdoc who gets it

I have a pdoc whom I do not like much, but I have no intention of leaving her; ESPECIALLY when I see some of your posts. She knows her psychotropics well. She knows how to combine them to prevent side effects [not all the time but most of the time]. She will explain why she has combined certain meds and why she wants you to stay on all of the meds she prescribed unless there is a problem. If there is a problem she wants you to call her and not mess with the meds yourself. If you do have a problem she can usually fix it. Some folks might leave her because she is cold and unfriendly, but I don't care. I just don't talk to her unless she talks to me. terrics

Hi Terrics,

You might consider seeing another pdoc for talk thearpay while continuing to see your current doc for meds. I do that. I have one pdoc who prescribes my medication (Lexapro and Wellbutrin SR) and another pdoc who I see every other week to discuss my "issues."

I agree with you that it's good to hang on to a pdoc who is good with meds!

K.

Thanks for the advice. I do see a therapist every week. The meds help more than the therapy for me. terrics

You're lucky Terrics. I never found a psychiatrist who knew med very well (shouldn't be their job by the way ?). I went to a professor who wrote a lot of articles and well-known also in the States (he's italian) and he didn't know that Reboxetine was a NARI ! I hope he was kidding me but I am not so sure. Who cares if she's cold ? your're lucky : )
