For me, the physical sedation lessened into a feeling of inner calm, which might appear to be sedation, but it not at all. I actualy enjoy the feeling, as without the med I am very high strung internally. With it, I am much calmer and methodical.

I took it for about a week, and the sedation never went away, and it also gave me fairly bad insomnia. I switched back to desipramine, which has very similar therapeutic effects but is much less sedating, at least in my case. It's also a lot cheaper.

Most meds, besides maybe something like Klonopin, take a good two to three weeks of stabalized dosing before sedating dissipates. Give it some time, as it could actually make you more alert in the end..
