Anyone on this, can compare to experiences with Seroquel vs. Zyprexa?

Hi,
Zyprexa and seroquel both worked well for me in terms of anxiety. I didn't give zyprexa too much of a run though cause it gave me stomach problems which is a rare side effect for Zyprexa. I find that seroquel works well as a sleep agent and also acts as an antidepressant for me.
Everyone has a different experience with these 2 but I hope this helps.

Cheers,
amy

I cannot compare with Zyprexa, but Seroquel works well for me for mood stabilization and sleep. I have no discernable side effects.

Both Zyprexa and Seroquel worked well, but I gained a homongous amount of weight before I switched from Zyprexa to Seroquel. Also I guess I should be honest and tell you that the Seroquel at doses over 100mgm gives me the Happy Feet Syndrome. Also, it really blunts my "feeling" anything. gh

Seroquel drops me within 18-12 minutes like drug induced narcolepsy. Cannot be awakened for hours ~ until it is out of my system (12-14 hours later). All activies requiring thought in action, cause me to DROP where i am standing, unconscious for another 4 or more hours.
It is useful to me as a sure 'sleeping pill', but a terrible tragedy as an anxiety relief when i am attempting to function through anxiety while suddenly dropping unconscious whenever i try to accomplish something. For me, it is the 'Life Function Narcolepsy frustration of despair" when it happens, and it happenes without fail. Regardless of past PMHNP's pdoc "poo-poo-ing' this actual truth occurring to me.

Sorry if that wasn't what you wanted to hear.

You have my full and sincerest accounting in hopes that you might be benefitted,...and that pdocs will in their heart of best hearts might make note of this atypical but profound response to SEROQUEL.

Wish you the best,
Escher

Thank you for pointing that out. Zyprexa made me feel very drugged. I haven't tried the Seroquel yet, I usually wait until weekends to try new meds.

What is the Happy Feet Syndrome? Like bouncing your legs all over the place and tapping and stuff all the time? I already do that. Ha!

When you say not feeling anything, in what sense do you mean? Your skin feels numb, or sexually you don't feel anything?

I guess this is a typical example of how the same drug can effect people differently, depending on their brain chemistry...

I take my 100mg of Seroquel about 30-60 minutes before I go to bed. I may of may not get sleepy with it. I sleep 'normally' only waking up once during the night to use the bathroom. I wake with no 'drugged' feeling in the morning. I can now 'sleepin' on the weekends if I get the opportunity, when I never could before.

It will be interesting to see how this pans out in the long run...

Hi Tony,

After taking Remeron for any length of time you are not likely to experience the zombie effect of Histamine blockade from Zyperxa or Seroquel. :) The zombie effect of these drugs is worth putting up with as it does pass with time.

Cheers,
Panda.

It is sometimes called akesthesia; with me it is EXTREME restlessness, especially in my legs when lying down. As for not feeling anything, I just seem not to have any emotions or very "blunted" emotions/feelings -- ie don't cry but don't laugh either. Hey there are strong feelings other than sexually! (especially at my age!) gh

Has anyone used Seroquel along with an antidepressant to make the antidepressant work better? My pdoc wants me to used Prozac with a low dose of Seroquel. Any opinions appreciated. Thanks, Karen
